About the Artist
A contemporary Filipino artist based in Ontario, Canada, and a Marketing Coordinator by profession, Gem De Bustos is a self-taught oil painter whose work explores the connections between emotion, experience, and cultural perspective.
After over a decade of global travel as a flight attendant, she embraced a full-time art practice in 2020, navigating motherhood and creativity as parallel journeys. Her paintings, often commissioned by clients worldwide, strike a balance of sensitivity and strength through expressive color, texture, and form.
With a background in Corporate Communications, Interior Design, and a recently completed Business Marketing course, she blends artistic vision with strategic insight. An active volunteer and board member of the Women’s Art Association of Hamilton, she continues to exhibit in group shows, sharing her evolving perspective through vibrant, story-driven compositions. Committed to empowering women and fostering community through art, her practice serves as both a personal journey and a bridge connecting people through creativity.
